Hey guys, it’s been a while! I have been a busy bee with a lot of new projects as well as maintaining old ones and I sort-of put the blogging on the back burner for a little bit. However, I am back with a new article.

This one was inspired by the documentary out on Netflix called ‘Fantastic Fungi’ – an amazing look into the incredible world of our oldest ancestors, Fungi! If you haven’t seen it, I *highly* recommend it. Welcome back! Today we are exploring the beautiful boho rattan sector of Etsy. So, let’s get right into it, and answer that curious question that a lot of us have. What’s the difference between rattan and wicker? After doing a bit of research, since I also didn’t truly understand, I found a pretty simple answer.

Rattan is a product, while wicker is a process.

Info Bloom does a nice little article here explaining more if you are interested. But essentially what I found is that rattan is a type of material made from the climbing palms of the subfamily Calamoideae. Whereas wicker is a type of weaving technique that can be used with a variety of different materials. Make sense?

As I was writing my recent post “8 Etsy Shops for your Curiosity and Oddities Cabinet” I stumbled upon some curious miniatures. It got me thinking of my old wooden dollhouse that I got from our neighbor and how I would try and create furniture for it out of things that I found around the farm. An acorn tap for a bowl, a leaf as a duvet, or a pebble for a coffee table.
