So as you know… 2020 is pretty much canceled altogether. Concerts, carnivals, and of course… Festivals! However, it’s not forever, and when things start to calm down and festivals come back, they are going to come back full force! So, now is actually a good time to stock up on your festival gear since you won’t be spending on the actual tickets themselves.
Have you ever considered Etsy as somewhere to look for festival fashion? I didn’t really consider it myself but when I started doing some digging I was absolutely blown away! High-quality products from small businesses that have dedicated their shops to festival wear and who do not disappoint. I found some of the most creative items that I’ve ever seen online as far as costumes and festival fashion. Which is quite bold to say considering I am a performer and I spend a lot of time looking online for new costume ideas. Etsy surprised me once again!
Also, it’s just so nice knowing my spending is going to real people who are trying to live through their passion for art and design. I get to have a conversation with someone and they are always good about customizing designs so that they are the perfect fit.
Update! As pointed out by a viewer, some of these specific outfits I have posted are not actually worthy of Burning Man. I hadn’t done the research and was not aware of the policies around fashion at the event. Somethings like glitter, sequins, feathers, and other details that can easily fall off of a costume are forbidden. The rules are in place in their attempt to “leave no trace” in other words, to keep the desert unharmed and clean. Check out the rules before getting too far deep in your shopping. Nevertheless, festival fashion stores are taking a big hit during the pandemic and small artisans of Etsy are reaching out to people to prepare for the next festival season. So check out the shops, look into the rules of individual festivals (Like I should be doing better), and have fun supporting small businesses!

sequins, feathers, and intricate beading (AKA most of these pictures) are not appropriate for burning man because they fall off too easily and violate the event’s Leave No Trace ethos.
