I have to say, I am loving the sock trend that is going on lately. Fly guys wearing slick suits and rocking bright and crazy socks peeking out of their recently shined shoes. This is definitely a trend I am on board with. Socks have always been one of those essential items that you put on every day but have never really had much attention. But why? The comfort of your feet should definitely be on your priority list. It could change your whole attitude for the day!
Today andthebee is teaming up with Conscious Step to talk about their wonderful initiative and quality products. I was pumped to read into them and discover more about these awesome socks and the changes they are making in the world. However, I became even more excited to tell my readers all about them. So let’s get into it!
How can socks be sustainable?
A very good question! Conscious Step starts off their socks life with mindful manufacturing. This means that they focus on how the product is made and how it affects the planet. They support and give work to small organic cotton farmers in India. They ensure that the plants aren’t treated with any harmful chemicals and are not genetically modified. Then, to finish off, they ensure ethical workplaces; no child labor, minimum wage compliance, and even overtime.
So, the wonderful people from Conscious Step sent me some samples to try out and they did not disappoint!

Alright, so in this awesome (and of course, recyclable) box I received 3 pairs of ankle socks in different shades. You can immediately feel just by touching them that they are quality and resilient socks.
Providing water to those who don’t have the same easy access that we do is such an important cause. As stated on the box, this ordinary purchase has an extraordinary purpose. It provides access to safe water for one person for 5 years! Now that’s making a difference!
The socks are made from organic cotton, have a cushioned insole and arch support. Being a dancer, I have always had trouble with my high arches and not getting enough support. Receiving that immediate comfort from my socks as well as good shoes is high on my list.

After my Permaculture program, I realized that education is really the root of so many global problems. Whether it’s a lack of education or miseducation. That’s why I was so on board with the idea of providing books to children.
The socks themselves are so cute. They are a higher sock (which I love since they will peek out from beneath my short-cut jeans) and are decorated with little reading glasses. Loooooveee them!
Room to Read focuses on literacy and gender equality within the educational program in developing countries. They help build problem-solving skills and assist girls in completing secondary school with proper and equal education.

Last but not least, if anyone knows me, they know that I am a born and raised forest fairy and spend a lot of my downtime building secret gardens amongst the trees.
These socks plant 10 trees in Uganda! How cool is that? Comfortable and stylish socks perfect for camping and hiking that also benefit a worthy cause. I just can’t get enough of how thoughtful and awesome this initiative is.
These socks are gonna look great with my hiking outfit but even more so, I know that they are going to keep my feet happy and comfortable even after 5 hours going straight up the mountain!
