It’s that spooky time of year again. And once again another holiday producing disposable one-use decorations that go out for one day and thrown away the next. But, it doesn’t have to be that way! I’ve come up with some ideas on how to replace those disposable “no-go’s” for reusable ones! But first, I thought we would start off with a little history lesson about Halloween…
Summer is coming to an end and it’s back to school, back to work, and back to “reality”. At least that’s what some people say. Personally, I designed my life that so all 365 days feel like reality. The weather changes and the temperature too, but my view of life remains the same. My goals are still there, my dreams still dancing in my head, my attitude consistent (for the most part).
But for some of us who have taken a reasonable rest from their jobs or schools, are beginning again now in Autumn.

Fathers Day, with a seemingly positive intention, has been a controversy for many many years. The history of both Mothers Day and Fathers Day is interesting. And, regardless if you are pro-Parents Day, or against it, for me, an excuse to give thanks to my father and father figures is just fine.

Recently Etsy has put out a new selection of Editors Picks under the title : Reduce Your Waste.
They feature everything from upcycled gifts, to reclaimed wood furniture, to earth friendly cleaning products and more. I think it’s a great idea! Although when thinking about reducing your waste, buying more items doesn’t exactly come to mind. But the idea is that these are products you will only have to buy once (or very minimal amounts) in an effort of reducing your waste that is being thrown out everyday.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who gets anxiety trying to cook, clean, bake and NOT think about how I’m impacting the environment.
Now-a-days it’s normal to plastic-wrap your food, then store it in plastic, cover that in plastic and chuck all of that in a plastic bag with a lovely plastic ribbon to finish it off. AHH! Meanwhile, you’ve got the faucet dumping rivers into your drain as you scrub your dishes with *soon-to-be* landfill sponges and a toxic soap that smells like a paint-can. I get it, you want to be environmentally friendly. You’d love to be that person who wakes up at 4am to promote their “Save the Anteaters” campaign. Marching down the streets with a handmade 100% recycled bamboo protest sign reading, “I LOVE MOTHER EARTH, DO YOU!?” But, you’d also love to be a hibernating bear who only wakes up to eat cold pizza that just-so-happens to be on the floor beside your bed. Is there no middle ground? Well I believe there is!
