montreal locals boutique
Our story begins…
From old friends, to business partners; Kristelle Mercier and Geneviève Paquette explored the idea of putting together their talents to create something positive and new. Kristelle, having previously worked as a manager of a small bistro, had the desire to open her own business and the skills required to operate it. And Geneviève, a designer of her own ethical fashion line, brings imagination and artistic insight to the project. Together they decided to create a space for like-minded local artists to showcase their products, and to provide an accessible opportunity for the community to shop local, and discover local artists. This led to the beginning of…
Les Coureurs De Jupons
Montreal, Quebec
I had the opportunity to interview Kristelle

Why is supporting local important to her?
Les Coureurs de Jupons is an extension of the growing side of Montreal that is filled with talented, creative people. It represents a huge part of the community and allows them a space to grow and actually make a living from their skills and talents. There is so much talent that fills the city and it is important that there are spaces like these ones to allow that talent to be nourished and supported; to showcase the artists and their creativity. More-so, keeping the economy in a circular rhythm, rather than a linear one is so important. Knowing where the items are coming from, and where your cash is going is an excellent feeling.
“If you could have a coffee/beer with anyone (living or dead) who would it be and why?”
“Leonard Cohen. Why? Because, well firstly, I love his music. I once saw an interview with him and I loved his energy; calm and collected. But at the same time, full of love and understanding. I believe he was a beautiful poet and a man who appreciated women. I’d love to chat with him over a coffee.”
